Our Coding Dojo staff members and ninja students attended a tech event with Yukihiro “Matz” Matsumoto, the founder of the Ruby Language last night! To say that it was amazing would be an understatement.
The event began with some casual networking and was followed by 3 startup/project presentations by Fukuoka Japan who use Ruby as their developing language. These speakers were very talented and covered super cool and interesting topics.
After the Fukuoka Japan representatives, Mr. Matsumoto began his presentation covering Ruby 2.0. Aside from the neat programming, one of the key aspects that we gathered from Matz is that for him, it’s not about the money but rather about the motivation and that his dream is to provide programmability EVERYWHERE—how motivating is that?!
For those not familiar, “Ruby is a dynamic, open source programming language with a focus on simplicity and productivity. It has an elegant syntax that is natural to read and easy to write.”, with this said—our staff members and students took away some great information and loads of inspiration from this event.
A big thanks to Hackers and Founders, Fukuoka Japan, and Mozilla for hosting the event!
