Talk about what you’ve done and what you’re excited about. Don’t worry about coming off a little bit weird or socially awkward because that’s not what they’re really looking at. Frankly, that kind of passion is a good thing.
Gayle Laakmann McDowell accepted our invitation to come speak with our ninjas at Coding Dojo’s HQ this past month! She covered what needs to be done in order to do well in Product Manager and coding interviews.
Gayle has written a few pragmatic books including Cracking the Coding Interview, The Google Resume, and most recently Cracking the PM Interview and is the founder and CEO of CareerCup.com . CareerCup is the leading source of technical interview preparation and provides a free forum with 8000+ technical interview questions, a book, a video, and mock interviews. She has worked as a Software Engineer for notable companies such as Apple, Microsoft, Google and has played a significant role in hundreds of technical interviews. All in all, she knows her stuff and we were fortunate enough to have her present a guest lecture to our students!
They’re not trying to test you on whether or not you know the details, they want to see how you solve problems that you haven’t seen before.
